FREEDOM WITHOUT FAVOR

EQUALITY WITHOUT EXCEPTION

The Nashville Chapter of AU was founded in 2001.

We work to promote and protect religious freedom by educating, speaking out, monitoring state and local developments and rallying citizens to defend religious liberty.

We work with local organizations, community activists, faith leaders and houses of worship to safeguard church-state separation.

Our chapter organizes or sponsors educational programs that are free and open to the public. We alert our members and supporters to measures that infringe on church-state separation and encourage them to contact their representatives about them.

We work with our national organization (au.org) to address possible violations of church-state separation in our area.

The chapter is on pause until November,2026, except for certain events. Check out the ARCHIVES.

On March 28, 2026, AU Nashville participated in a No Kings Rally in Franklin. Indivisible, Williamson County invited us to speak.

About us

What is the Separation of Church and STATE?

The separation of church and state ensures that all people—whether they are religious or not—are treated the same.

For nearly 80 years, Americans United has defended church-state separation – a pillar of our democracy and the best way to ensure freedom without favor and equality without exception for all.
